I started noticing that my reverse resolution on overridden hosts was returning the hostname only, not the FQDN.  I discovered that /etc/inc/system.inc writes out the local /etc/hosts file in the following format:

      192.168.1.1 myhost myhost.mydomain

dig -x 192.168.1.1 returns router.  I'd much prefer it to return myhost.mydomain, which would require switching to something like this:

      192.168.1.1 myhost.mydomain myhost

Is there a right answer to this question, or is it personal preference?

not sure what your talking about…

What version are you running.. PTRs all return FQDN  for all my host overrides

Here I just made a test one..
