[SOLVED] no vlan nic tab under dhcp server page
-
I created a vlan and gave it a NIC (opt1). I enabled the opt1 interface with dhcp ipv4 only. I expected to see a opt1 tab in the dhcp server page. It's not there. I'm not sure what's going on here. I want to give the opt1 vlan 192.168.2.0/24 and the rest 192.168.1.0/24

you have your opt1 set as dhcp.. So how could it be a dhcp server? To be server the IP has to be static.

oh, right. Thanks. Still though, I set static ipv4 at 192.168.2.1/32, enabled the interface opt1 and no ipv6. The rest was default. Still no tab for opt1 in the dhcp server page. I have all VLANs removed now.

/32 what network could there be on that? That is a HOST specific address all 32 bits.

ok, I was confused about what that setting was. I thought it was only for giving the pfSense NIC an IP address. If I understand correctly:
the ip address is for the NIC/DHCP server, the mask defines how "large" (how many addresses) the subnet is.When I specify less than 32bit masks the interface shows up. Thanks for your help!

Yes it is for setting an address and the mask of the networks pfsense is in..
