Broadcom BCM43224 under pfSense



  • Hi everyone,
    I got a wi-fi card BCM43224 which doesn't seem to run under pfSense. Is it still unsupported? In other words, is there a way to make it work, or the only possible thing to do is to buy some other wi-fi card?

  • If it's not supported by FreeBSD, it can't work with pfSense.

    I would suggest buying an external access point if you want to do wireless.



  • Is an external access point somehow more preferable to another card inside? As I could as easily switch Broadcom card for some AR9280…

    Yes.

    An external AP is independent from the driver support in BSD. You can place it on an optimal spot in the building instead of having it there the computer "lives". And depending on the AP you may have better range too
