      Greetings:

      I have installed pfsense 2.4rc on a dell tower (Core I5)…decent amount of hd space and memory and each time it completes the install and initiates the install it hangs and I have to manually power down and power up the device

      However, on another dell Sff (Core I3) Similar specs an it is fine....What gives....

      Any ideas?

      gracias :)

        Sorry for not being more specific…

        -The first pc/system in which 2.4rc hangs on is a Dell Optiplex 990 Tower (Core I5 Tower 10GB Ram 2TB HD), 1 Intel PCI-Express Gigabit Network Card/1 Gigabit Network Interface Care
        -The 2nd system that it works on without incident isn a Dell Optiplex 960 (Core I5 SFF Desktop approx 8gb Ram 250GB HD)/1 Onboard Intel Gigabit NIC/1 USB 2.0 to Gibabit ethernet NIC

        I opted for the tower because of the slots for the NIC's as opposed to the USB Gigabit ethernet which would face some speed issues with the usb...

        I'd rather deal with the Manual reboot as opposed to the bottle neck of usb to ethernet speed. but still curious on why the hanging...Will eventually build one of my own but in the interim...

        Any wisdom appreciated.  8)

            @opensrcjunkie:

            "Speed" will be the last of your problems when using USB-NIC's ….
            Just don't even consider them as an alternative.
