I removed my old CF Card install of "pfSense-CE-2.3.4-RELEASE-4g-i386-nanobsd.img" and format the CF, then wrote "pfSense-CE-2.3.5-RELEASE-4g-i386-nanobsd.img" onto the CF Card.

Green light consonantly flashes, unable to boot. I don't have a console cable.  Was expecting a fresh install and accesible on LAN port at 192.168.1.1, just like pfSense 2.3.4

I had to reformat CF card and re-install fresh copy of pfSense 2.3.4 to get router to work again.

I remember an older release also had this issue which was promptly fixed. It was v2.2.x and fixed in 2.3:

Is the only way now to get to 2.3.5 is to use the upgrade method rather than a fresh install?

      Can someone confirm this?

      Thanks…

Without a console cable it's impossible to say what the problem is, since the output on the console is required to know what is happening/failing/etc.

I can tell you that during 2.3.5 release testing it was tested on an ALIX and it worked OK for a clean install and upgrades.

FWIW, I recently re-loaded a half dozen old Alix boxes (2D3 and 2D13) with 2.3.5
I used the 2g-nano and they all worked fine. You really need a null-modem cable if you use an Alix.
