Atheros wireless card issue
-
i have been using 1.2.1 from some while now and currently the RC2 of it but i have been having this wireless card issue since ever with wifi with my iphone 3g but not with any other wifi device so i though mayb my config might be wrong or so, so can any1 recommend a good config to make iphone 3g wifi work fine with pfsense wifi.
with my laptop it works fine but my iphone 3g, the wifi keeps dropping the connection
my wifi card is Wistron DCMA81 Atheros 802.11a/b/g miniPCI wireless card
opt1 config as follows:
Type: static
Bridge with: none
IP address: 192.168.2.1/24
Standard: 802.11g
Mode: access point
802.11g OFDM Protection Mode: protection mode RTS and CTS
Transmit power: 32
Channel: 11b/g - 11
WEP: disable
WPA: disable
WPA Mode: WPA
WPA Key Management Mode: pre shared key
Authentication: open system authentication
WPA Pairwise: TKIP
Key Rotation: 3000
Master Key Regeneration: 3600
Strict Key Regeneration: disable
Enable IEEE802.1X: disable -
Set the transmit power to 99%. (This is actually 100%: 0-99 = 1-100)
Also i believe i've read somewhere that the iPhone has problems with TKIP, so AES might be worth a try.

i tried it but didt make much of a difference

i think this is a general issue with 1.2.1 due to some wireless card drivers as the wireless client keeps dissociating after a few minutes. my question is will it be solved by using third party drivers in any future release or do i simply stick to 1.2 with the older freebsd version as it works fine with that?

If it works fine with 1.2 then stick with it. There are no "3rd party" drivers that we can switch to.

And it isnt possible to downgrade to the previous driver (from the 6.3) ?
Is this a common bug in the freebsd or somekind of pfsense specific bug?
Also happens with my Nokia E90
