Router DMZ to wan on pfsense

ill excuse the info regarding the vmware setup because thats a bit spaghetti like but ive text the interfaces with pings and they work fine, anyway my problem is that i have 2 routers setup with static ips with wireless internet using radio,
currently im just using one till i get that working through pfsense what ive done is dmz everything through to the wan interface of pfsense. Whats happening is inconsistent pings through to the outside world, it will ping 4 times in a row then skip 4-6 then ping once etc. this is from pinging from my computer as well as from the pfsense web gui. somewhere theres a problem between the router and the pfsense wan interface. however because of this problem i cannot browse at all, if i plug the router back into my old setup (without pfsense) i can get out fine.
