      Hello,

Trying to upgrade my CPU to a AES-IN CPU for the 2.5 upgrade.

I know very little about hardware. The only info I can get from  pciconf -lv is:

      82801GB/GR (ICH7 Family)

So what socket / CPU would I look for to upgrade to a AES-IN one?

Is this even worth it or should I just get a new PC.

      Thank you.

Your question is the same as asking "Which tyre for my car".
If you can provide more details about your setup, then we can provide you the right answer you are looking for.
        Is it a desktop ?
If yes, which brand and type of motherboard ?
Is it a rackmount device ?
If yes, which brand and type of motherboard ?

If i must go on what you provide -> ICH7 Family ,
then this is a old chipset, probably socket S775.
S775 doesn't have any cpu that supports AES-NI.

          Thanks DeLorean

Yes I was looking to see if my chipset could be upgraded but it looks like it can't.

I'll just get a new PC when 2.5 comes out. I probably need to upgrade anyways.

          Thank you again.
