Calling all owners. Please share your thoughts(reliability, performance, etc) on the little machine.
I'm looking to upgrade from an alix2c3 and as most common, I believe, would rather not spend ~£300 on a lemon. ;D

The machine uses Realtek NICs, which are notoriously horrendous.  However, for a small installation it might be ok.  How many users are you looking at supporting?

I have the previous model (FX5620, purchased from LinITX).  It pushes 20 Mb/s without breaking sweat.

Note that the problem Realtek chipsets appear to be confined to those supported by the rl driver (in particular the 8139 and 8129 chipsets).  The Gbit chipsets (the FX5621 has 2 Gbit interfaces) don't seem to be as bad (though not as good as Intel) and the 8100C chipset may not be as bad as the 81[23]9 chipsets.  Certainly you shouldn't have any trouble if you're only using the Gbit interfaces, and easily be able to push 40 Mb/s even if you're using the 10/100 interfaces.

The 8100C is supported by the re driver and its manpage is pretty normal; the description on the rl driver manpage is terrifying. So you just might be right regarding the 8100C.

How are temperatures with your FX5620?

Not sure.  It's not massively hot, though it certainly gets quite warm - probably because the case is pressed against the CPU heatsink ;)  Even with minimal ventilation and temperatures of ~30C it's been happy to just chug along.

Has anyone seen the FX5621(or the FX5622) for sale outside of linitx.com?
