I just purchased the Gold Subscription on Jan 31st. Auto backup worked fine. I changed the hardware pfSense was running on (Hyper-V to dedicated hardware) and now it fails with this every time:

Feb 3 09:39:03 php-fpm 77741 /pkg_edit.php: New alert found: An error occurred while uploading your pfSense configuration to portal.pfsense.org ()
      Feb 3 09:39:03 php-fpm 77741 /pkg_edit.php: An error occurred while uploading your pfSense configuration to portal.pfsense.org () -
      Feb 3 09:38:33 php-fpm 77741 /pkg_edit.php: Beginning https://portal.pfsense.org configuration backup.

I've searched and found other users reporting this, and those appear to be when the portal side is down or having issues. So I waited a couple of days, and it's still not working.

I've removed and reinstalled the package. I've disabled and enabled the service. I've disabled the service, deleted the information, enabled the service and re-entered the information.

When backing up manually, I get the message "Backup completed successfully", but then I get the failure alert and these messages in the log:

Feb 3 10:00:49 php-fpm 58565 /autoconfigbackup_backup.php: New alert found: An error occurred while uploading your pfSense configuration to portal.pfsense.org ()
      Feb 3 10:00:49 php-fpm 58565 /autoconfigbackup_backup.php: An error occurred while uploading your pfSense configuration to portal.pfsense.org () -
      Feb 3 10:00:19 php-fpm 58565 /autoconfigbackup_backup.php: Beginning https://portal.pfsense.org configuration backup.

Nothing in the php-fpm (nginx) error.log seemed to correlate.

Checked the firewall, logged packets blocked by the default rule set, and there's nothing in there that correlates.

      Thoughts?

Contact the support team at https://customercare.netgate.com and someone can help you track that down.

Unfortunately that one is a bit generic so it's hard to say. It looks like some kind of connectivity or DNS issue from the firewall itself. Though if you can install the package it should have good working connectivity to all of the pfSense servers.

First, make sure that you can check for updates and that pfSense is fully up-to-date as well.
