Why, oh, why are some websites just pooched? ver 2.4
I've been troubleshooting this annoying and yet very important issue (at least to the bosses).  Linkedin comes up completely non-navigable, so too, fauxnews, yahoo finance, etc.  It's really strange. Check the pics attached.
      Steps I've taken:
Disabled pfblockerng, tested, same result. reboot.
      Disabled squid, tested, same result.

I have this nagging feeling that I've seen this before and it's fairly trivial, but I can't seem to reach epiphany.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

I've seen some weird access issues with squid fixed by enabling Resolve DNS IPv4 First in squid's config.

No that's not a valid reason for a bridge by any measure.

heeheh - pretty sure kpa posted an answer in the wrong thread ;)  But the Nomad meme is great!

Sites that come up like that normally are due to the css file not loading.  This could be a dns related problem.. But I have no issues with those sites… I would suggest you use a browser tool to see what aspect of the page is not loading - it should show you the fqdn of where the css is trying to be loaded from.. From there you could troubleshoot why, etc. be it dns not resolving it - you just can not get there, its being blocked by some browser addon? etc..

Thanks. KOM.  I already have that checked.

              Thanks, Johnpoz.  I'll try that.

I have this issue with Foxnews as well.  Just curious, are you using Internet Explorer 11 with windows 7.  In my case if I view this website with Google Chrome or Firefox they work just fine.  It seems to be only IE 11.  I just assumed that the web site was no longer compatible with IE 11.  IE 11 and windows 7 are no longer supported by Microsoft.

Never thought about it being an issue with pfSense.  I am curious as to what you find the problem to be.

                  What's your MTU set at?

Out-of-box thought: what's your internal IP address?

Foxnews works just fine with E11… Not sure where you got the idea that is no longer supported?

Windows 7 extended support goes til 2020..

When pages look like that is normally because CSS did not load.. You need to figure out why that is.. Could be something as simple as your running pfblocker and its blocking it, or just dns problem looking it up from where you are, etc. etc.

Quick look at webdeveloper tools in firefox shows these domains for CSS.. Can you validate they resolve.

Sorry for the long delay.  The issue was resolving fncstatic.com (pfblocker list).  I simply added a host override in the DNS resolver and solved the problem.
I'd like to thank everyone for their comments.

                        Why don't you simply whitelist "fncstatic.com" ?
