Can't access backup unit when primary unit is active

Hi,
I successfully configured failover with multi wan, VLANs, VIP's and whatever. My only issue is that while the primary unit is active I cannot access the backup unit. I am able to access it via a dedicated port if I am hard-wired to that port. During my testing, I saw that I will be able to access it normally from our network if the primary is not active.
Is there something that i need to change in order to be able to access it or this is normal behavior?
