      Hello,

I am new to the forum but have been using pfsense for a while now and I am looking to start adding vlans' to pfsense as I will be replacing all our existing networking equipment shortly and will be separating some of the equipment in place (computers, wireless, cameras, etc…) however I am running into an issue where I cannot add any vlans'.

When I try to add a vlan, I can enter in all the information however there are no interfaces that show up in the 'parent interface' drop down list.

I have tried searching this forum as well as other sources and have not had any luck in finding a solution. It is a basic setup and have only recently added snort but the issue was there prior to adding snort.

I am currently running version 2.3.4-release-p1. It is running in a VM on xenserver 7.1.

      Thanks,

      Pat

I don't use Xen, but the interface that is showing up in the guest must have vlan support. If it's not showing up as an em or something, you may need to load the guest utilities. Look in the virtualization forum, I'm sure someone has done vlans on Xen.

Thanks for the info. I have search only last night and after a long many hours found my potential solution. I will have to test today. I will also be searching the virtualization forum also for alternatives.
