PFsense on ARM (Raspberry Pi3 B+)

Hi There.
I noticed the newer PFsense hardware is ARM based and as such PFsense must have been ported to ARM even though it’s not generally available as an open image like x86/x64.
I see a great potential in the new Raspberry Pi3 B+ and would love to be able to run PFsense on that platform. What are the chances that we will see a PFsense build capable of being installed on that platform without getting to technical/geeky?

It won't happen, the ethernet port on the Raspberry Pi is driven by a SMSC LAN9514 chip, this acts as a USB to ethernet adaptor and USB hub.

All ARM bits are on our github. Anyone knowledgeable enough could build it.

I would avoid it as RPi is simply too slow and not worth the effort. We will be introducing more ARM devices soon :)

Yeah, a little more diggin’ on the Pi hardware shows its less than stellar for this usecase. The NIC is worthless

The ODROID-C2 does Gb (~980Mb/s) both ways
But i think FreeBSD support is lacking

I just wanted to say RPi3 does not run on FreeBSD 11.x only on -CURRENT. There will never be RPi3 on FreeBSD 11.x per IRC chats.

Less likely than the RPi3. Unless they are 100% compatible.

But even devices on that list would still require work and that isn't planned right now.

It's still 12 or 13 only so you would be looking at a special build of 2.5. Which doesn't exist so, no, it still won't run.
If we were ever to look at RasPi it would be far more likely to be the Pi 4 because of the vastly superior Ethernet on that board.
