      Hello

I just joined the forum as I'm interested in adding some proper security to my home network, and pfSense appears to be the most highly recommended option.

Could someone with knowledge of pfSense please have a look at the attached diagram, and let me know if this configuration would work?

I had been thinking of replacing the Balance 710 with a 'do everything' pfSense box, but I gather Peplink does a better job of WAN failover / load balancing, which is why I show separate pfSense and router devices.  i.e. Let pfSense do what it does best (UTM and VPN) and Peplink do what it does best.

      Would it work?

Thanks in advance for your insights.

      Pete

Should be no problem.  For network adblocking, you would get better results from a pihole IMO.

Thank you so much for your reply, @KOM, which is very much appreciated, as I'd quite given up hope of getting a response!

I will try adding a Pi-hole appliance between the Peplink Router and switch.  :-)

Sometimes in the forums you get unlucky because the right people happened to not see your post.  I will quite often ignore the forums over the weekend and then just mark all as read when I return, and sometimes I read through all the posts I missed.  Between here and the /r/pfsense Reddit channel, you should be able to get any question answered.

Yup, I can see it's a matter of timing!  Anyway, very happy that you were able to give me a positive response to my query.  Now to find a reasonably priced 1U 8 port router!  eBay beckons…

              Thanks again.  :-)
