      Hi guys,

I'm eyeing on Qotom i3 (Q330G4) and i5 (Q355G4/Q350G4) machines, just 2 questions for those of you who own one of these:

      1. Can the i3 and i5 version handle gigabit OpenVPN, as in, can it get full gigabit bandwidth even with OpenVPN turned on?

      2. What about WireGuard?

      I was hoping:
      a. pfsense supports WireGuard now, and
      b. Q330G4 can handle Gigabit WireGuard, as it appears that WireGuard is faster than OpenVPN.

      Thank you very much!

P.S. I remember I saw some discussion in the "Unofficial Qotom Thread" but couldn't find it any more…

          Thanks!

          Even the i3 version (Q330G4)?

That's nice, I don't have buy the more expensive i5 version then.

You actually see that yourself @SammyWoo? I would be very surprised to 1Gps of OpenVPN traffic from either of those, especially the i3.

As far as I know the only way to get that would be to load balance across multiple client instances.

An Intel Celeron 3865U @ 1.80GHz will do 331Mbps according to this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQ3tdkiaAno&t=597s

This pegs the CPU at 50% load as OpenVPN single threaded

The i5-5250U looks to be a fair bit faster  https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-Celeron-3865U-vs-Intel-i5-5250U/3034vs2478

I don't think it would push 1Gbps though?

@stephenw10 In your experience, without using load balancers, roughly how much bandwidth can you push through using either the i3 or i5 qotom model(s)? Just a ball-park figure.

Having never even seen either of those devices I can't really comment.

There are other thread here though with test results.

I do have i5 version of QOTOM box.

With single connection to provider like NordVPN i can go up to 300Mbit's (almost symmetric). CPU on pfsense seem not to be overloaded and it looks like the vpn endpoint limitations.
                    Mind that OpenVPN is singlethreaded.

I'm doing 700-800 Mbps with a G4400 and a single VPN connection. I think the speed your VPN provider can offer is a bigger factor (PIA in my case).

Just want to let you guys know: I have the Qotom Q575G6 with Multi WAN Gigabit and Suricata running. IPsec VPN brings the CPU up to 40% usage. I'm really happy with this device. It's running flawless and very fast.
