    Suddenly lost WAN connectivity for three hours

      Hi,

      today I've noticed that I've completely lost all internet connectivity without any special "action" for around three hours. No issues with the ISP neither the PPPoE context went down at any point.

      It all started when suddenly one of my OpenVPN client interfaces (A connection to PIA VPN where some destinations are routed via) went down for a second (openvpnc3).

      Shortly after this I see gateway alarms for the second OpenVPN connection (PIA USA) and my WAN PPPoE gateway (which is a bit strange).

      From here on all internet connectivity was broken. I've started my emergency router after 1 hour (I was not home and could not remote into my network due to the lost connectivity), but it was not able to bring the PPPoE up (as PfSense still hat the WAN connection up from the PPPoE point of view, my ISP allows only one concurrent connection).

      After around 3 hours the connectivity suddenly was working again, here are the log events. Again it started with an event "ovpnc3 link state DOWN":

      Any ideas what I maybe have configured in a wrong way before I file a bug in redmine? How can it be that a change / connectivity issue of a OpenVPN client interface affects my main WAN interface?

        OK, just saw a Tweet from Deutsche Telekom that they had issues with "some" connections with static IP  ::) … Seems the problem was an external one.
