Is list@lists.pfsense.org definitively closed?

I'm not even seeing a MX record for lists.pfsense.org anymore?
Definitively replaced by these forums? -
Yes, it has been decommissioned. It was very low volume anyhow, and it couldn't be made GDPR compliant.

Hmm. Okay. There is nothing wrong with killing the mailing list. It's done, fine by me.
The list was low-trafic (because the software is high-quality), the forum is well designed and works well (better than many in my opinion), it is simpler to centralise the community around the web-forums only, all these are good reasons for doing so.
Though... "it couldn’t be made GDPR compliant" only shows how much misunderstanding there is about European GDPR. People should actually read the document than get it explained to them by their lawyers, or worse, so-called GDPR consultants. ;)

Our lawyers did read it. We did not take any resulting action lightly. There is a lot of FUD and misinformation out there in both directions. Some people overreacted, some people haven't reacted enough, both based on bad information.

Indeed, I share this observation.

By the way, is this forum run on a custom software or something else? If it happens to be generally available, I'd appreciate a pointer, so I can gather more information about it. Thanks.
