Hello, need assistance with a very simple LAN configuration and want to verify I am set up correctly.

I am installing the SG-1000 and only have a Netgear N600 Wifi Cable Modem router (https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/cable-modems-routers/C3700.aspx#tab-techspecs) for other network hardware.

Is it correct to configure / install the SG-1000 with Ethernet in LAN port going to router and disable WAN port? Or should I configure the N600 modem router as just an access point and have the Ethernet coming into SG-1000 into WAN port?

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, I know this is a simple setup but need to get this configured correctly.

      Thank you!

        Hi,

Ideally you want to configure your cable modem in bridge mode and let the SG-1000 do all the routing. In that case, you will need a separate AP behind the SG-1000.

SG-1000 WAN > cable modem LAN

Thanks much! I suppose I was trying to bypass getting more equipment but alas. This helps me narrow down what needs to be done!
