Can you recommend me some cheap 40GB adapter card that is supported by pfsense
I can't find anything there. I am trying to install pfsense on Dell C6220 dual node but I am getting white screen after it boot some hardware might not be supported and I can find what is the problem
          here is the server config
          http://vi.vipr.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV4&item=173105596980&t=0&tid=10&category=11211&seller=pdneiman&excSoj=1&excTrk=1&lsite=0&ittenable=false&domain=ebay.com&descgauge=1&cspheader=1&oneClk=1&secureDesc=0

          I just added QLogic QLE7342
I am booting directly from an ISO pfSense-CE-2.4.3-RELEASE-amd64.iso
          here is what I get

Hanging immediately after the bootloader like that I doubt it's the NIC causing an issue but try removing it anyway, it looks like you have built in NICs there to use anyway.
More likely it's the drive controller if it's really not booting further or it could be an issue with the video driver and it is in fact still booting.
Can you use a serial console on those instead?

I have no recommendations for 40Gb NICs. Especially not cheap ones! I believe we did test some Intel cards.
pfSense won't pass 40Gbps anyway. What exactly are you trying to do there?

@stephenw10 I am building 40G network don't ask me why just because. I will go ahead and install esxi on both nodes and install pfsense HA on both of them. Seems all I could install on this nodes is openfiler because is linux base I also tried sophos UTM no luck seems visualizing them will solve all my problems
except the 40G controller I will have to returned anyway esxi also not accepting it

              Thank you

@stephenw10 have tried this adapter intel XL710-QDA2
                https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025890/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products.html

in the page showing that have support to FreeBSD 10.x/11.x

I also found out that PERC H710/P sas adapter is supported by BreeBSD

Mmm, that adapter should work though I'm not sure I've ever seen one used with QSFP. I can't see why it wouldn't.

                  It's not cheap though. 😉

@stephenw10 I found it on eBay for 200 bucks I didn't mean adapter for 20 bucks this is not cheap yes but I need to run 40G network all of my equipment was upgraded to 40G - NEXUS 3132q-v 3062-X most of my servers running esxi 6.5 and upgraded with 40G network cards and I want to HA pfsense on hardware with 40G nics for the LAN I don't go online except browsing I am more concern about my LAN network than WAN I have 2 x 250Gbs COMCAST business lines I can't go outside LAN with 40Gb you know!! anyway
I've got this C6220 to dedicate both nodes for pfsense seems something inside is not supported by pfsense because I just installed FreeNAS witch is also freeBSD base and seems to working fine. Embedded NICs was recognized 10Gb Mezzanine work fine only current 40G adapter QLogic QLE7342
not supported because is HCA otherwise the rest of the hardware is working fine Can you tell me what do need to run pfsense on that system

You can try a pfSense 2.4.4 snapshot. That is built on FreeBSD 11.2 so may have some fixes that apply to your hardware.
                      https://www.pfsense.org/snapshots/

Were you able to try a serial console? It looks like it stops outputting to the console just after the boot loader which is exactly where it changes th console settings. It's exactly what you would see if it starts using an incompatible video mode for example or if it changed baud rate on a serial console.

@stephenw10 all that changed with 2.4.4 version is the screen from white to black. I've never installed pfSense on the independent hardware before. Might be I've downloaded the wrong image file

I use Dell BMC vKVM to view and vMedia to boot from ISO or IMG I can't be physically at the server right now. I can change the baud rate Do you know witch baud rate have to use?

The Dell is neither I would expect that work. But it may have some Dell quirk.

115200 is the correct baud rate. If you're the serial console though you will need to boot from the USB image:
                            https://nyifiles.pfsense.org/mirror/downloads/pfSense-CE-memstick-serial-2.4.3-RELEASE-amd64.img.gz

Or set the console at boot:
                            https://www.netgate.com/docs/pfsense/hardware/boot-troubleshooting.html#booting-with-an-alternate-console
