Web GUI
-
Hi,
I installed PFSense on Friday after a long time of not using it. Setup and installation was smooth and left everything working on Friday. This morning I am no longer able to access the Web GUI from the LAN. If I reboot it and access it immediately I can logon and see it and then a few minutes later I am unable to access it again.Any suggestions are welcome as I can't find anything about this anywhere! Thanks in advance.

I would check the system logs for any errors. Check the firewall log for blocks.
Are you able to ping the firewall when the GUI stops repsonding?
Are you able to connect through the firewall to external sites?
Are you able to ping out from the firewall console? To internal or external sites?

Can you access ssh or console.. Are you happen to be running arpwatch package?
-
@stephenw10 Yes, I can ping and connect to the www, all other normal services running.

@johnpoz I had not enable ssh yet but will see if I have enough time on the next hard reboot to do so before the GUI disappears

So I take it your not running arpwatch? There has been a few reports of it causing issues, when I was running it you could access internet, ping pfsense IP, etc. But gui, ssh and even console not responsive.. Only way to recover was hard reboot..
It would run for a while, and then at some random point just lock up all access to pfsense even through internet would still function.. If you are running arpwatch package I would suggest you disable/uninstall it to see if that removes your issue..

@johnpoz negative I am not running arpwatch

If you have access to the console you can enable ssh there.
Either way with CLI access you can check the most recent system log messages for gui relared errors:
clog /var/log/system.log
