      This is just a suggestion.

      It may be better to have the default config setup with each port on the switch as its own interface in pfS.

        Since the ports are a switch and not actually separate interfaces, that is probably not the default most people would expect. Since customer deployments vary greatly, there won't be any one single default configuration that will fit everyone. Given that, we prefer to have the default match the capabilities of the hardware.

        It's not too difficult to change, and we have a video walking through the process at https://www.youtube.com/embed/NgRy14rYhV8

          A way to apply "presets" would be a nice compromise.

          Presets might be...

          ETH1 = WAN, ETH2-8 = LAN (Default)
          ETH1 = WAN, ETH2 = LAN, ETH3-8 = OPT1
          ETH1 = WAN, ETH3 = LAN, ETH3 = OPP1, ETH4-8 = OPT2
          ETH1 = WAN, ETH2-4 = LAN, ETH5-8 = OPT1
          and so on

          Applying the preset, would configure the switch and pfSense interfaces in one step.

          Just a thought.

            We have something like that on the roadmap for the future, a "switch wizard" of sorts that will do what you're after there. Still in the planning stages so no ETA.
