With 2.4.4 final, I would like to swap out a firewall this weekend but the 8GB RAM I have on hand aren't compatible with my motherboard. I only have 32GB sticks available. I could wait but but am curious if theres any impact of install/configure with 64GB on board, are the queue/buffers which are configured based on detected hardware may need to be tweaked once I have replaced the 32GB sticks with 8GB sticks?

You shouldn't need to adjust anything when adding RAM

You might need to tweak memory or buffers when adding other hardware but new RAM should just work without any changes.

thanks Jim. Just to be clear - I'll be reducing RAM from 64GB to 16GB next week.... all other hardware will stay the same. Thanks.

Unless you're running more things than would fit in 16GB (which is pretty tough to do on pfSense!) then you'll most likely be fine.
