      |=Hello, I have another problem after upgrade from 2.4.3-p1 to 2.4.4. I was unable to logon to network remotely via OpenVPN after firewall reboot. When I logged in locally, I saw that "Admin" group and all users (except admin) dissapeared from Usermanager. After fresh install and restoring backup from 2.4.3-p1 the problem persisted. I had to do fresh install and configuration.=|
Recently I saw the same problem after upgrading from 2.4.2 to 2.4.3 on some machines. What's wrong?

There are no issues I'm aware of that would result in the loss of users from the configuration like you describe.

How were the users created? Are the <user>...</user> tags still there in config.xml?

If you would be willing to share the configuration privately, I can attempt to replicate the problem here. You can send it to <my username>@netgate(dot)com.

Hello, I had read the backup configuration file created before upgrade. The <users></users> section is included in file, but all users except admin are missing and in "group" section is only "all". I was logged in as admin during backup, so I had full access to firewall. Is it bug inside pfSense? I sent to you our backup file.

Thank you very much for your help.

If the users were not in the config before the upgrade, nothing in the upgrade could have done that.

I don't see any sign of local users other than admin, or signs of RADIUS or LDAP being used. Something or someone else must have removed the users from that configuration before.

There haven't ever been any bugs that I can recall that would remove all users except admin.

I'd look for an older backup, see if they are in there.
