Like to know if there is a way to enter host names on pool IP's that are not static assignments and have these be listed on the diagnostics/ARP table or the status/DHCP leases table . I am using 2.4.4 Release running on a Dell Server Model D200 equipped with four NIC cards.

So, associate a MAC address with a host name independently of whatever the host is actually sending?

What should happen if the host sends a different name when it pulls a DHCP lease?

Thanks for your note. Clearly the information must originate from the device connected to at each IP.

Hosts that send a host name will be shown in the Status > DHCP.

Perhaps I'm missing something here. Can you clarify exactly what you're expecting to see and what you're actually seeing?

Thank you for your reply. Please accept my apologies for my late response but I have been traveling.
Responding to your question, in previous applications of older pfsense versions I thought I had seen host names for mac numbers assigned in a specific pool that were not assigned as static. In version 2.4.4 I did not see this. That is the root of my question. Clearly your response makes the most sense. In any case host names can be assigned via a static ip assignment.
