      information: https://www.netgate.com/docs/pfsense/cellular/known-working-3g-4g-modems.html#modem-variations-reported-to-not-work

      "Huawei E3372s LTE USB-stick
      Link interface: /dev/cuaU0.1
      Init string: &F&C1&D2E0S0=0"

      procedure:

      1. I installed a modem in usb
      2. I made the command in ssh: usbconfig dump_device_desc
      3. I saw:
        ugen4.2: <HUAWEIMOBILE HUAWEIMOBILE> at usbus4, cfg=0 md=HOST spd=HIGH (480Mbps) pwr=ON (2mA)

      bLength = 0x0012
      bDescriptorType = 0x0001
      bcdUSB = 0x0210
      bDeviceClass = 0x0000 <Probed by interface class>
      bDeviceSubClass = 0x0000
      bDeviceProtocol = 0x0000
      bMaxPacketSize0 = 0x0040
      idVendor = 0x12d1
      idProduct = 0x1f01
      bcdDevice = 0x0102
      iManufacturer = 0x0001 <HUAWEI_MOBILE>
      iProduct = 0x0002 <HUAWEI_MOBILE>
      iSerialNumber = 0x0003 <0123456789ABCDEF>
      bNumConfigurations = 0x0001
      4. so everything is fine.
      5. in "Interfaces/PPPs/Edit" I do not have: /dev/cuaU0.1
      I have only:
      / Dev / cuau0
      / Dev / cuau1
      why?

        Remove the modem and reboot pfSense. Check the system log. Plug the modem in. What new log lines are i the system log?

        Check Interfaces > Assign, do you have a USB device, ue0, available to assign?

          If you don't have ue0 then try using camcontrol to eject cd0 and da0, this might allow the stick to change mode. Alternatively you can flash a different firmware on to the stick.

          check this thread here, I've written a small how-to guide for NDIS mode
