      I have an XTM 505.
I can see the boot on the console.
I can get into the bios.
I can start and install PFSense from the CF card.
However if I Install Freedos on the CF it will show the boot and that's it. Will not display anything else after that. It stays on the screen and after that nothing. I know Freedos has booted, because I can hear 3 beeps after the screen stays on the boot screen. But I cant see any response or anything else.
Anyone had this problem before? Was anyone able to solve this?
      Thank you!

Stil not sure why you're trying to boot FreeDOS on the XTM5. You can flash the BIOS from pfSense directly using flashrom.

It may be a conflict between the console redirect and the output from FreeDOS. You could try disabling the switch to serial console in FreeDOS and relying on the redirect instead.

its not just freedos. I want to see if I could use something else on the xtm than pfs. To see if it would work with other distros. Flashing the bios is just one thing.

OK, but once you've done that you can boot from USB, change the console settings etc. It will be far easier to boot other things with all the BIOS options available.
