Has anyone used these for pfSense? They look nice and seem to have everything I'm looking for, other than it seems everyone who sells them ships from China and the they take a month to arrive. But I'm nervous since they have almost no reviews and I'm not seeing anyone here talking about or recommending them.

I like the Netgate stuff but it's at least double the price for a comparable piece of hardware.

I'm looking for a rack mount pfSense box that looks clean and has at least 5 or 6 gigabit ports with at least 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD (or just bare bones I can put my own ram and drive in) low power would be nice, but not a big deal. It should also have a CPU that supports the AES-NI instrcutions. I've seen the reused 1U servers (Dell or HP) but they don't really install or look clean into a rack setup.

      Thanks.

        Hi @dajones13 ,

Not sure what our budget or connection speed is, but in terms of of your requirements I can recommend this:

        https://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1u/5018/SYS-5018D-FN8T.cfm

Have been using this system (added SSD and 16GB RAM) with a symmetric gigabit fiber connection for about 1.5 years now without issues. Very capable little box with room for growth.

If you need more horsepower, check out this newer model:

        https://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/5019/SYS-5019D-FN8TP.cfm

        Hope this helps.
