We have two Pfsense box's running .4.3-RELEASE-p1 (amd64). For the past month both environments have been experiencing internet outages for about 5 minutes each time. Today I started digging in the logs and also checking the CPU and memory usages. During today's outage i noticed the CPU went from 236 processes to 0 and the memory usage went from 0.15% to 0% for exactly 5 minutes. I also would like to add during these outages that the VPN IPSec tunnel that goes to our HQ stays active and doesn't loose connection. So it makes me think the pfsense box has connection, but everything behind our firewall looses internet connection. Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks

0 processes and memort usage is not possible so it seems more likely it stopped logging during that time for some reason.

Do the WAN quality graphs stop logging then also?

        Does it recover by itself?

What to the system logs show for that period?

Yes the WAN quality graphs stop logging as well. Yes it recovers by itself. The system logs does not show anything for the period of time. The only log it has is me logging into the GUI.

          Thanks for the response,
          Tanner

Hmm, so it does log you logging it during that period where the graphs are not logging?

In other words the system logs are provably still logging?

Do the gateway logs show any event?

Are you able to connect out from the firewall itself during that time? From Diag > Ping for example?

The Gateway logs does not show any logs during today's outage and also we were are not able to connect out from the firewall during the outage period.

              Thanks
