Emergency / I crashed my PFsense from 2.4.3 to 2.4.4 upgrade
-
Hi,
I upgraded from 2.4.3 to 2.4.4 using the web installer. Reboot took place but:
- Webinterface is not responding (even after restart)
- routing/firewalling is not taking place
I can ssh into the box. I retrieved the config.xml so I could (if absolutely necessary) reinstall the negate/pfsense from scratch. Would rather not. Any idea where to look for?
pfSense-upgrade -d reported no more actions and no errors. Even dhcpd is working.
-
Easiest(and fatest) is re-install. There is an option to recover configuration during the new installation.
-
downloading the image as we speak. Console is already up and running. Do I need to put the config.xml somewhere special on the USB drive?
I noticed PHP issues during reboot with haproxy. I manually removed the packages and rebooted. Let's see... Need to wait for the download via 4G first...

Removing ha-proxy did help.
Crash report begins. Anonymous machine information:

What remains is that dhcpd keeps dying on me. And after reinstalling ha-proxy the web interface seems to disappear again and other things are sluggish. All very spooky.
I cannot find anything in the logs why dhcpd cannot start....

In the end nothing helped but reinstalling. I was naturally afraid of doing so but it turned out: It was fast (with the exception of getting the image in the first place) and worked beautifully. So thanks for the assistance!
