I opened the box and inside is a small not really what looks like a reset button. I've held it for 30 seconds with the unit running and up to 1min and 30secs holding it while booting. But nothing resets the username/pass. Any suggestions? Am I resetting it right?

If it really is a m1n1wall, the reset button is not inside. It's accessible from the front of the case.

That's an APU, but the procedure for the m1n1wall is identical

What pfSense version is it running?

You can always reset the config (or just the password) from the serial console.

Edit: Just checked and the reset button should work in 2.3.5. I tested that myself at the time.
