my zyxel dsl modem has the bad habbit to die every 3 to 5 days.
thats why i use a simple automatic timer which i plug into the power outlet, to "reset" it every 48 hours.

so for pfsense, the link on the wan nic goes down for 1 minute every 48hours.

this never was a problem in the past, but since i upgraded to 1.2.2. pfsense stops working after the modem was reset the 3rd time.
even though the modem is online again, pfsense keps reporting "link down".

un-/re-plug the modem does not help.

i must restart the pfsense pc to get it to connect/see the modem again.

What does the system log say at this time?
Also you could try to update to 1.2.3 to see if it gets better.

Thank you for your reply. :)

Maybe you could give me a helping hand. I did choose the latest build here.

            pfSense-Full-Update-1.2.3-20090317-0041.tgz 17-Mar-2009 00:42 40M

When trying to upgrade the firmware, pfsense tells me the following:

The digital signature on this image is invalid.
This means that the image you uploaded is not an official/supported image and may lead to unexpected behavior or security compromises. Only install images that come from sources that you trust, and make sure that the image has not been tampered with.

            Thanks! :)

This is normal and can be ignored.

                thanks for your help. :)

                  here we go again.

the HDD in my pfsense pc died and so i had to do a clean installation.
i've used the latest RC available on the homepage, and found myselfe encountering the same problem again.

everytime the ADSL modem is restarted (it stays off for 1 minute), pfsense simply does not reconnect.
even if i hit the "connect" button, it just won't conect. (using PPPoE)

i must reboot the pfsense pc to get it to connect again.

also tried several snapshots, all have the same problem.
                  i am curently running: pfSense-Full-Update-1.2.3-20090918-0504

to work around the issue i am tryinto to setup a cronjob to reboot pfsense right after i restart the modem.
                  not much success yet. :(
