group manager not available 2.3.4-RELEASE-p1
-
Hello,
I've set up version 2.3.4-RELEASE-p1 of pfsense Community edition in a virtual machine under hyper. Wanted to configure OpenVPN and add users and groups - but there are no groups.
When I open System -> User Manager there are only users but no groups. Within the user adding i'm able to choice groups for the users, but only the default groups are available. So i can't give a user permissions for vpn.
Even when I try to give an user effective privilegues manually, I'll be redirected to the System Activity page intead of the expected settings.
My services, gold and help menues are empty too.
So what I did was to reinstall the image in a new virtual machine. That didn't work. Update the running firewall didn't solve the issue too. What else can I do?Sorry if my english isn't really great :)

Hi,
Start here : install 2.3.5 .... or more recent.

@gertjan said in group manager not available 2.3.4-RELEASE-p1:

2.3.x is EOL, do not install it in any version. Use 2.4.4p2.

His VM is probably 32 bits only.

There should be a groups tab in System > User manager whatever.
I suggest reinstalling using something current as others have.

Thank you all for your replies. The thing is: actually the pfsense runs as a vm from a cloud server hosting provider and i'm yet not able to install my own fovorized images. But i told them about my problems and i might be able to get an newer actual release of pfsense by time. For now i need to wait until their rollout.
Under System > User there really is no groups tab, even after reinstalling the whole vm.

Interesting. What provider is still supplying only 2.3.4-RELEASE-p1?
You can't update it yourself?

Yeah, I was surprised, too. The provider is called busymouse.de (Germany, where I come from). I could update it myself, but the vm is 32 bit and 2.4 requires 64 bit.

Hmm, that's... unhelpful!
Well you can at least update to 2.3.5p2 (or 2.3.6 if you go to the last dev snaphot).
If there is some bug you're hitting it may have been corrected. I'm not aware of that specifically though.
