SG-2440 Gigabit WAN
-
Hello,
I am using an SG-2440 in my home and recently had cable lines ran to my street. I was able to cancel 15/2 DSL and get Comcast gigabit service.
I am noticing my speed is 930 Mbps down direct to the cable modem, but when I speed test over my LAN/SG-2440, I am seeing 600 Mbps. The only services I am running on the SG-2440 is pfblocker NG with a DNLBL for ad blocking. My Wan port is set to auto negotiate and power is at max while on AC power.
I do have a DLink gigabit switch in my rack and a Dlink gigabit switch in my office.
Just wondering if there is some overhead that prevents me from getting gigabit to my computers. My understanding is the SG-2440 is sufficient for gigabit, provided there aren't a ton of services filtering packets. I turned PFBlockerNG off to see, but still see 600-675 Mbps.
Thanks,
Jerold

You should be able to get some more speed out of the SG-2440, Do you have PowerD enabled, if so what profile?

Thank you very much for your help. PowerD is enabled with Max on ac power, hiadaptive on battery and unknown.
I tested cat6 from LAN on the SG-2440 and the speed was 850Mbps. This eliminated two gigabit switches that seem to be causing some considerable overhead. Not sure if roughly 200Mbps loss is reasonable, or if something else is the cause.

Is a few switch hops enough to lose 200 Mbps?
Thanks,

It depends on the switches, cables, network load, etc. No you shouldn't lose that amount in your switches.
