Netgate SG-1100 USB 2.0 / 3.0 ports

Disclaimer - New Netgate customer :)
I've seen nothing documented about what the SG-1100's USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports should be used for. I know that you typically use Remote Syslog to dump logs out, but sticking a 128GB USB stick in the USB port and using that for logs would be a nice convenience... and since I'm not seeing any options for that in the pfSense configuration, what are they included for?

Good question, you can use the USB ports for recovering the unit in the event of a corrupted install.

There are technically 3 USB ports on this unit. You forgot about the micro port - that one is used for console access, since it has no monitor-out port (VGA or HDMI).
On my SG-2220, I use the only USB 2 port to connect to an external battery backup UPS. That, along with the NUT package, keeps my pfsense box running when the power goes out.

That's a good idea too, never thought of that one. Any idea how much voltage is output on any of the USB ports? Is it in a spec sheet somewhere... haven't dug too deep in the product pages to find it myself.

Being USB it supplies 5 volts. Perhaps look up the Marvel espressobin specs if you need further details regarding current capacity etc..
