      Hi guys and gals

We run a small time project in a datacenter where we see around 500mbps in traffic with the odd peaks up to 1.5Gbps.

We want something low power consuming and that doesnt break the bank (looking at spending in the space of $500USD, can be also non new) Also need this ot have 4 ethernet ports (or more)

What kind of hardware do people think would be good for this sort of job. (planning on running two of the same thing for HA)

$500 each or $500 for the pair?

should have been more specific, $500 each unit.

You said peaking to 1.5Gbit/sec. That means multiple gig port lagg or 10G ports. Which is the datacenter expecting/capable of? What is it now?

@derelict said in Hardware suggestions for PfSense HA:

We have 3 x 1gig ports uplinks (hence I want multiple something with multiple ethernet ports or ability to expand essentially)

What do you have in mind of hardware that could be good for this level of traffic and be "cost effective" I am pretty new to all this. The project is not mission critical at all, so even second hand hardware is more than acceptable

Tough to say. I'd use 2x SG-5100s if it was me.

No idea what's out there in the used market.
