I have a old desktop with 1 lan, and I want to instal pfsense. I read in few post here, can I use 1 Lan port for WAN and LAN, but I need to set a vlan.
I have a mikrotik hap ac2. I want to use this mikrotik like a switch.
The internet connection are pppoe and I want to put in port 5 of mikrotik, and port 3 from mikrotik conect directly on LAN desktop. It is possible?
    How?
    Thank you!

No idea what the capabilities of the Mikrotik are. Sorry.

All you need is a switch that can separate two VLANs and tag them to the pfSense port.

DO NOT set a source address/port in a port forward or firewall rule unless you KNOW you need it!

This is not a Mikrotik support forum. You might have better luck with that over there.

https://docs.netgate.com/platforms/minnowboard/pfsense.html should be easy to adapt to other hardware.

I've been using pfSense and a ADSL modem (not a router !!) from my ISP for years.
pfSense initiated the PPPOE connection (a modem can do anything, it's a 'dumb' device) that converts ADSL POTS electrical signals to an Ethernet connection.

Edit : and where are the logs ??

While you can use a VLAN & managed switch, why not just put in a 2nd NIC? It makes things a bit simpler.

PfSense running on Qotom mini PC
i5 CPU, 4 GB memory, 32 GB SSD & 4 Intel Gb Ethernet ports.
                      UniFi AC-Lite access point

                      I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...

                          I installed with success.
I set mikrotik like a Wisp AP - Bridge, I deleted DHCP rules and i create 1 vlan on eth5.
In PfSense I created 1 vlan, in Interfaces / Interface Assignments I associate WAN with PPPOE0(em0) created in PPPs like a Link Type - pppoe.
Now I have an Pfsense router with 1 single ethernet port for WAN and LAN.
                          Thanks!
