      Yea, strange title...

WAN interface is private (10.x.x.x/30) which is blocked from internet
LAN interface is public, and is not blocked.

      [2.4.4-RELEASE][root@host]/root: ping -S x.x.x.1 8.8.8.8
      PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) from x.x.x.1: 56 data bytes
      64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=0 ttl=118 time=3.417 ms
      64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=1 ttl=118 time=3.503 ms

      Whereas, if I just....

      [2.4.4-RELEASE][root@host]/root: ping 8.8.8.8
      PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8): 56 data bytes

      No pingy...

Is it possible to create a route such that updates / package manager will work ?

      .. Jerry

Humm, same question was asked recently.
Don't remember what the answer was.

        This, of course :

WAN interface is private (10.x.x.x/30) which is blocked from internet
LAN interface is public, and is not blocked.

is asking for a hard time, and, well ... you have been served.

What about hooking up pfSEnse to some network using the WAN interface. Hook up you PC to LAN, or use the console.

It might also be possible to reroute WAN out over LAN... I guess.

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
Edit : and where are the logs ??

          Clarification:

The LAN is a routed, isolated subnet ==> WAN is private network ==> Edge router ==> internet
