good PCI Express 1.0 x1 NIC for an older motherboard
-
There are quite a few posts/articles about good NICs for pfSense but it appears my MB is too old for those recommended NICs.
I have a spare computer lying around I want to put pfSense on. If it works out and I like it then I'll build a better pfSense server. For now I just need to add one more network port.
The MB is an Intel DG33BU. It has a PCI Express 1.0 x16 and x1 slot. I can't use the x16 slot because this MB will only allow video cards in it. So I am stuck with a PCI Express 1.0 x1 slot.
Any recommendations? Not trying to spend an arm and a leg but want something good.

I've purchased a couple of Intel's Gigabit CT adapters for my pfSense box and have had good luck with them. It will work with x1 PCI-E slots (and higher), and comes with a regular height as well as low profile brackets.
