2.0 doesn't work with realtek 8111b
-
2.0 seems to SOMETIMES find the driver/interface, similar to the behavior experienced in 1.2.3 with one major difference
in 1.2.3 i can connect to the lan and use the web gui. in 2.0 the interfaces stay "down"
nothing before 1.2.3 seems to find the interfaces at all…i guess i'm stuck using 1.2.3 for now....i really want to try 2.0 for it's traffic shaping
-
Then you really should buy a intel nic.
-
can you show the config.xml section of interfaces and the output of ifconfig and ifconfig $interface up!?
-
@ermal
i'll have to do it tomorrow late night…i went back to 1.2.3 for the time being and i can't take the network down.i know intel nic's are the best for pfsense but the point of the post wasn't "how do i get pfsense to work". it was exactly what i said in the title. 2.0 isn't working with realtek 8111b right now. 1.2.3 does work with realtek 8111b...even if it's only partially so i'll use that until things progress....it's more of a freebsd issue than a pfsense issue i'm sure.
-
i don't know if this means anything or not but when it lists the driver it does say that the interface is (down)
the wan never finds it's address and even though lan shows as 192.168.1.1 it's not really working because i can't ping it or even connect period from another computer.i've tried pushing 8 to go to shell and type ifconfig re0 down then ifconfig re0 up (same for re1) but it didn't make a difference.
it IS working well with 1.2.3 now though it doesn't find the interface 100%, it seems to be working better than before….i'm looking to buy a dual intel pro/1000 when i can afford it but right now i just can't do it.
-
Hi,
I have no realtek so might be missing a point, but how about to get driver from the official realtek site and install onto your box(which requires modifing loader.conf force driver to be loaded while booting) to see if there's any diffrences?
cheers,
-
after messing with it for a week i just decided to order this intel based card
http://www.intel.com/Products/Server/Adapters/PRO1000PT-DualPort/PRO1000PT-DualPort-overview.htm
i had originally looked at sites like newegg and thought they were 300 bucks…i got one on ebay for 100 so i can live with that
i've also heard that besides being easier to load in pfsense, they are vastly superior in bandwidth too so i'm just doing what everyone else here already knew i should have to begin with\
-
i didn't realize you could go to status.php and get the boot logs even when you're not booting from the hard drive (it seems to save it to the hard drive anyways) so i will post some of what i'm getting because you had asked me for that before
