adding new subnet to existing WAN
-
I have a PPPoE WAN with a static IP address working fine as a NAT to my LAN.
My ISP had added a seperate /29 subnet to that WAN link, I would like to put these IP addresses onto a VLAN.
I have tried many configurations to get the pfsense to act as one of these new addresses so it can respond to ARPs and route traffic to the internet - but no joy.Can anyone geive me a clue?

You need to make a Virtual IP under the Firewall tab. In there, give it the data your ISP provides, and activate it. There might be a couple more steps, but it's been a long time since I used this function. Sorry... Here are some more instructions: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/firewall/virtual-ip-address-feature-comparison.html Jeff

Thanks, have read that page several times. But still cannot get any ping responces or arp responces on the VLAN.

@Boab said in adding new subnet to existing WAN: But still cannot get any ping responces or arp responces on the VLAN. What VLAN? There's no VLAN mentioned in the linked page. Just go the Firewall > Virtual IPs and add each IP of the additional /29 as type "IP alias" to the WAN interface. Then add rules to use them.

I think I may have resolved it still checking. Writing it up on the forum and having a meal/break clears your head.
 will report tomorrow.
