I have several of your typical, run of the mill CARP setups with two pfSense boxes running, where one is handling all traffic and the second one is sittling idly by waiting for the first one to die, and when it does the second jumps in and starts fielding traffic until the first one returns.

Is there any way to get multiple pfSense systems handling traffic in a load-balance scenario on the WAN interface, or must you buy enough CPU/RAM/NIC to have one system capable of shouldering the load and a second one standing by just in case?
