      Hi all,

I'm curious what everyone's thoughts were about using AMD EPYC based systems for pfSense? I realize support may not be that great in the current version (based on FreeBSD 11.2), but I would expect this to improve with pfSense 2.5.0 (and FreeBSD 12.0). From what I have read, the the AMD EPYC 3000 series chips appear to benchmark well against Intel counter parts (e.g. the Xeon D series of chips), yet also offer great value. For instance, this looks pretty interesting to use a future pfSense box:

What does everyone else think? Thanks in advance.

I has just about to start a thread about this. I was also wandering if this is a good idea. It uses intel nics, so it should be good.

I would start by checking the FreeBSD forums and mailing lists for reports.
