Pfsense+openVpn And maybe Vlan
-
Hello guys first time here just one quick question I wonder if a Xeon 1220lv2 can handle pfsense openvpn and vlan with 1gb speed...
I’m trying to adquire 2 of them or just one don’t know yet. A lower consumption build is a most can anyone give me some feedback ???

For 1Gbps OpenVPN? Probably not. At least not with a single tunnel.

@stephenw10 and with wireguard? I heard that it uses a lot less resources...

No idea, we don't have wireguard in pfSense...yet.

@stephenw10 hum It seems you are the only guy here so just one last question what kind of cpu power it’s needed for 1 gb vpn???

OpenVPN is single threaded so, for a single tunnel, you need a CPU with the fastest single thread performance you can get. I'm not sure I've seen anyone hit 1Gbps on a single tunnel, but I have not been following that closely. There are a number of threads here discussing it.
It is possible to setup multiple tunnels and load-balance between them. That only helps if your traffic across the tunnel is multiple connections of course.
All that assumes whatever you're connecting to can actually pass that too.Steve
