Set dynamic static ip on LAN interface?
-
In the DHCPv6 server on the LAN interface I can set the range to be say from ::192:168:1:0002 to ::192:168:1:ffff
Is it possible to set the LAN interface itself to be sort of dynamic like the clients connecting to it without specifying the part given by the ISP i.e. ::192:168:1:1 ?My current LAN interface is set to track on the WAN, which works fine except it's a random /64 at the end which I don't really like.

No.
There are several discussions, but pfsense staff won't do that. In there opinion is a dynamic IPv6 adress not correct and ISP have to change theire behavior which is far from reality. So it is like it is..

Not quite. We're not choosing to disallow that. The DHCPv6 client isn't capable of doing it. When tracking WAN, it automatically assigns the interface addresses. There is some work to make the situation better, but at the moment there isn't much that can be done in a compatible way.

Thanks for your comment, may be there are some misstakes in wording at my site, it's not my mothers speech :-)
My last stand was, that you don't see the nessessarity, nice to see we are some steps forward :-)
At me it looks not that complicated, prefix as variable to call everywhere and thats it . Ok I have no idea how coding works so I can only hope someone do it ;-)
