I was using this file to determine if a backup was done recently but I noticed in some cases it doesn't exist or doesn't get created. Does anyone know how this file is used or when it exists or doesn't exist?

After poking around the code a bit I'm starting to think it's a legacy thing and recently after upgrading some units I started to notice a problem.

Here is where it gets created. https://github.com/pfsense/pfsense/blob/master/src/etc/inc/acb.inc#L319

        What problem are you seeing?

Looking at firewalls here it contains the correct time of the last ACB backup.

For some reason the lastpfSbackup file wasn't appearing for some units. Somehow it's working now. I was banging my head and now it's suddenly working.

I did learn a bit about how it works in the process though and documented in my notes. If it comes back I have more information and I'll update this .
