I am returning to pfSense after a couple of years. Previously, I was building 1U units with CF cards running pfSense to replace a couple of aging SonicWalls for our offices. Before we could complete the project, the company was taken over and all our IT is now run by a corporate office in Kansas.

I am now planning to install pfSense on a Dell Inspiron 8100 with the following specs:

      Pentium III 1 GHz CPU
      320 MB RAM
3COM 10/100 Mini PCI Internal Ethernet
Xircom CreditCard Ethernet 10/100 + Modem 56 in the PCMCIA slot.

I also want to install the FreeSwitch package, though I don't expect more than one call at a time.

Is this a feasible set up? I am able to run pfSense 1.2.2 from the CD, but would like an opinion before I install to the hard drive.

Also, is there a way to shut off the laptop screen when I close the lid; I want to run the box headless?
