      Hi pfSense Experts!

I have mucked something up on my router. On Chrome, when I attempt to log into the WEB interface I am redirected to http://www.gstatic.com/generate_204. This does NOT happen when I use Firefox. Any idea what setup(s) I need to check in pfSense or maybe in Chrome? The WEB interface is set to use https. I have done a Chrome reset and disabled extensions. I have also scanned with both malwarebytes and Avast.

      Thanks!

      Gary

How are you accessing the GUI? By IP address? At the LAN interface?

It does seem most likely a local issue in Chrome though. Can you test from a different local machine?

          Hi Steve!

Yes, I am using IP address 192.168.2.1. I am NOT able to access the GUI. And yes, on the LAN interface. Two different W7 boxes are having the same issue. Firefox browser works on both.

@garyn said in WEB interface, Chrome redirects me to http://www.gstatic.com/generate_204:

            http://www.gstatic.com/generate_204

            first result on google

...the domain Gstatic.com/generate_204 are used to redirect you to generate pay per click revenue for its publishers. The redirect collect’s personally identifying information such as your IP-address, your current location, browser type, type OS and search queries to deliver more detailed advertisements bla bla bla

to make it short... malware/adware, try adwcleaner / malwarebytes / antivirus

              Thanks!

Tonight the issue is gone on both W7 computers. Last night, I installed a new cable modem which would seem unrelated to the gstatic issue, but it was an unusual event. Malwarebytes never found anything on either computer. This is not my favorite solution path, but I'll take it for this evening.
