      Hi guys,

I'm trying to setup accounts to manage pfsense with just the necessary permissions, but I've noticed it doesn't matter if I assign permissions to the user or to a group that the user belongs, the permissions doesn't work well. I can access the GUI just fine and even click on buttons to edit things, but as soon I save something, there is no error message but the setting is not saved. I can't even add widgets on the landing page of pfsense.

The only way to make any user account rights to work is to add the accounts to admin group.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Sounds like those users have permission: Deny Config Write.

yep, you were right, it was assigned with a few others.

It would have been nice to have an error when you try to save something and are not allowed. As it is it simply discards the changes, no feedback.

I don't know how easy that would be. You could open a feature request for it though: https://redmine.pfsense.org
