I have created a file /var/unbound/forcegoogle.conf and added it as an include in the Custom Options of DNS resolver, but the file is deleted upon reboot.

how can i make a persistent file to avoid having to add all the entries individually?

Put it in /root and include it from there.

It will be lost if you reinstall, etc.

or check the Filer package to keep your file alive even after firmware updates.

There is a package called filer, it would allow you to store the contents of a file in the xml, so the file will be created for you after say an update to pfsense.
